Born in Livingston, Alabama, Thomas Peck Ochiltree (1839-1902) moved to East Texas with his family shortly after his birth. After serving in John G. Walker’s company of Texas Rangers from 1854 through 1855, he was appointed chief clerk and sergeant at arms of the Texas House of Representatives.
